HDTV-Ready Tellies
Sky+ is so 2003. The current big noise in the world of telly is HDTV, or high-definition television, the new pin-sharp technology being launched by Sky and Telewest in the new year.
eBay is awash with TVs designed to take full advantage of high-def. Look for "HDTV" or "HD-ready" in the auction title. Most enormo-plasmas and 32" LCDs are going for around £1,000, though some optimistic sellers have slapped £5,000 price tags on top-of-the-range 42" plasmas. At the more affordable end of the HDTV scale, you can get an HD-ready 28" widescreen tube with built-in Freeview for £500.
